OK, so I fantasized about the Canon 5D MK3 forever, then I was going to buy the Nikon D800 - being a good LA Professional Wedding Photographer I figured I really did need a full frame wedding camera but in the end I wasn't impressed with the 5D MKIII or the Nikon D800 so grabbed the Canon EOS 7D - yah it's an AP-C sensor but it takes great photos and the video is wonderful.
